POND STREET (PART 1)

 Sheffield's main bus terminus sits alongside Pond Street, between Midland station and the city centre. It's now called Sheffield Interchange, but let's go back in time, when we see a row of Sheffield City Transport buses lined up there.

The LNER also ran into Pond Street, with longer distance services. These were later amalgamated into the municipal fleet.

South Yorkshire PTE took over the municipal operators of the county. This included this ex Sheffield AEC saloon.

SYPTE later bought Dennis Dominators, this one bodied by East Lancs.

A vehicle shortage saw the PTE bring in hired vehicles, including this United Bristol RE.

1980 saw the operation of the "Kneeling National" and the first of the "Bendybuses".

Later, the fleetname "Mainline" was introduced.

Mainline later became part of Firstbus.

Chesterfield Transport was another municipal operator serving Sheffield.

Halifax also ran into Pond Street bus station.

Later, West Yorkshire PTE (later renamed Yorkshire Rider) buses came into here.

Another major operator was East Midland Motor Services.

East Midland was sold to the Stagecoach Group.

Yorkshire Traction came into Sheffield from the Barnsley area.

For a short period, some "Tracky" buses received green Mexboriugh & Swinton livery.

Like East Midland, Yorkshire Traction became part of Stagecoach.
