HOY! YOU! YES, YOU!

Staying on Canvey Island for a while, we'll have a look around. Here's the "sea front", looking east along the Thames Estuary. Southend's pier can be seen. The date was 10th October 2005 and later that day, around 10pm, it suffered a major fire. Nothing to do with me!

On that day there was a commercial vehicle rally taking place, so here are a few of the exhibits.

The old Eastern National bus depot here is now a museum and here are a few inhabitants.

A convenient horse will convey you to today's first pub, the Red Cow, latterly called the King Canute, following the 1953 flood.

Now we've got to get across the water to the mainland and Benfleet station, seen here from Canvey in LT&SR times.

There are choices; 1, The Steppiing Stones 2. The Ferry. 3. The Ford. 4. The Bridge (but that wasn't built at the time of these photos)..

That brings us to Benfleet station, seen both in LT&SR days and C2C times.

Benfleet station is actually in South Benfleet and here is The Square, sometime around 1920.

Of course, it's now time for a pint, at the Hoy & Helmet, as seen in 2003. Let's stay here awhile, or at least until my next posting, when we'll explore the area a bit further.
