SELBY PART 2

Ok, so it's back to Selby Market Place.

Looking up Finkle Street.

The main road through town is called Gowthorpe.

Two views of the appropriately named Wide Street.

There's still a traditional baccy shop on Wide Street.

West Riding was Selby's main bus operator and had a depot in town. This rare Seddon was photographed there.

A Leyland saloon at the depot, in NBC red, 1977.

The Queen's Silver Jubilee was celebrated by Wet Riding in Selby.

With 'West Riding Selby' fleet names, two Bristol VRs at Selby station approach, which acts as the town's main bus terminus.

Arriva took over from West Riding.

South Yorkshire Road Transport ran into Selby on certain days.

SYRT found itself in the hands of Arriva.

Jaronda Travel ran a service towards Drax.

Jaronda later took on the York via Cawood route.

Arriva bought out the Jaronda business and vehicles.

Burley's (Majestic) previously ran the Selby-Cawood-York route, using lightweight buses.

Stanley Moore also had a service to Cawood.

Another operator into Selby was Thorne's of Bubwith, still trading today.

For a short while, Steve Stockdale ran a town service.

Beer time now! First stop, what was once a right proper boozer, the New Inn. It seems to have lost its way these days.

There's a Wetherspoons, the Giant Bellflower.

The Albion Vaults, owned by Old Mill Brewery.

We conclude this post at a Samuel Smith's house, the Cricketers.

Don't forget, you can follow the route on this Google Map.
