We now leave Grantham behind and head due west from the Nobody Inn to the village of Barrowby, where we find the White Swan, in the centre of things.
About a mile to the north is the former GNR line from Grantham to Nottingham at Allington Junction, where, in May 2005, the old signal box was about to be replaced with a new one.
This replacement was destined to control the new curve to the Skegness line, opened later in 2005 (Network Rail).
A mile to the east, the village of Great Gonerby, where Reliance ran the bus service and had a depot.
North now and back to the East Coast Main Line, to the long closed Barkston station. The route to Skegness once diverged here.
Well off the route of the railway, to the southeast, the village of Welby, home to the Crown & Anchor.
Back to the GNR, the Barkston to Sleaford line and Ancaster station, still open, but seen here in pre-grouping days.
Now we start to follow Lincoln Edge, heading basically northwards. We soon reach the parish church at Caythorpe.
The Willoughby Arms at Leadenham is next, but sadly it's no longer a pub.
So we swifty move on to the Joiners Inn at Welbourne. It's still in business, but research the opening hours if visiting.
Still heading north, following Lincoln Edge, the next village is Wellingore, where the Marquis of Granby is well worth a visit.
Our last pub of this post is the Bell Inn at Coleby. It's a decent pub, but it's closed for the pandemic. Check their website in case of changes.
That's where I'll leave you for this post......thirsty! See you next time.
