Maybe it's a good idea to start with a brewery. Here, a DMU passes Lorimer's Brewery in the Ardmillan area of the city in 1982.
Lorimers later became known as the Caledonian Brewery. Here is it at street level.
Not far away is the Union Canal and the Leamington Lift Bridge.
We're now approaching the terminus of the canal.
This is the end - Lochrin Basin.
It's here that we find McCowan's Brewhouse. Brewing didn't last long and real ale is no longer served.
Not far away is the Fountainbridge area, home to McEwan's and Younger's breweries.
Slightly to the west was Haymarket loco shed. North British Railway 603 was photographed here.
Into LNER times and 2507 "Singapore" is on shed in 1936.
Haymarket is still in use as a Traction Maintenance Depot. 40166 was found there.
Meanwhile, 27209 passes the TMD.
Haymarket station is to the east of the TMD. Here it is in 1982.
A class 107 DMU arrives at Haymarket in 1990.
Modern Scotrail units now serve Haymarket station.
Edinburgh's new trams now pass by Haymarket station.
Lothian Transport's buses also serve the station.
Right outside the station is Ryrie's bar, an Edinburgh classic.
And just over the road is the Haymarket.
That would seem to be a good place to finish this post.
The next one will see us exploring the Old Town and its surroundings.
